When I learned of the brutality and evil inherent in the production of meat, eggs, dairy, and seafood I knew I could no longer consume animal foods. Unfortunately not everyone is as eager to abstain from animal products as I am. Some people see those photos and videos of abused farm animals, or read the stories, and make a vow to never eat that kind of meat again. To only buy their eggs from free range chickens at the farmer’s market. Or to go plant-based and not totally vegan, eating animal products here and there.
As an ethical vegan I wasn’t sure of what I thought of today’s Pay It Forward Friday organization, Compassion in World Farming USA. This isn’t an organization that touts veganism, though they are excited to make people vegan, and share my 21-Day Vegan Blueprint. This is an organization that fights for the welfare of farmed animals by demanding humane living conditions for all. With an understanding that animal consumption is here to stay, they are calling for the bare minimum, compassion in world farming.
It’s not blatantly veganism, yet I am in support of their mission.
One of their current campaigns is the Better Chicken Initiative. Did you know that 95% of factory farmed animals in the US are chickens raised for their meat? That’s approximately 9 billion animals! This is the kind of fact that makes me shiver when people tell me, “I’ve stopped eating red meat, I only eat chicken now. It’s much better, right?” No it isn’t! Visit their site to find out why, and sign the petition.
As part of their Better Chicken Initiative, CIWF (whose US offices are in Atlanta, Georgia––home of Chick fil A) is calling attention to inhumane conditions in which chickens are raised for meat, and working to abolish these conditions and replace them with pasteur raised chicken. They do this by lobbying, campaigning, and working with food businesses around the world.
I want Americans to get hip to the fact that Gardein and Beyond Meat are truly better substitutes for real chicken. In the meantime, let’s abolish factory farming!
Today, when you sign up for the 21-Day Vegan Blueprint I will donate 20% to CIWF USA. Our donation will go to the work that this organization does to fight factory farming, and demand humane living conditions for all animals.
CIWF will be sharing the 21- Day Vegan Blueprint with their followers to encourage them to GO VEGAN for a lifetime of health, energy, and compassion!
