I’ve got a theory. If I were not vegan right now I would be in a very bad place. If I hadn’t stopped eating dairy in 2011, what would have happened to my gut by now? Would I need to be on medication? If I hadn’t stopped eating chicken and fish, would I have high cholesterol or high blood pressure like so many of my non-vegan peers? What about my mental health? Honestly, I think I’d be in a psych ward somewhere, or at least highly medicated had I not found this path. Yes, it’s true: I am a drama queen. But before becoming interested in healthy eating—which led me to adopt a vegetarian diet, which led me to becoming vegan—I really wasn’t in a good place health wise. I was eating so much processed food and artificial sugar, and feeling terrible most of the time.
Don’t even get me started with my skin! Since changing my diet it has cleared up so much. I had acne from the time I was 13 or 14 to the time I became vegan. Now I regularly get comments on my “glow” and how great my skin looks. I still get breakouts (which you’ll see in the video below), but I wouldn’t call it acne. I’d call it stress induced hormonal breakouts. My skin totally clears up when I’m less stressed (say, I’m on vacation), but I’m an ambitious woman and dealing with my stress is a journey.
I had been dealing with jawline breakouts since the beginning of the year, and every time I thought I had it under control, another pimple would prove me wrong. The folks at BioClarity, a vegan acne treatment kit, reached out to me to try their product and I jumped at the opportunity. Well, not right away. I did my research to make sure that the product is not only vegan, but also free of scary toxic chemicals. While the product isn’t as natural as a face mask you’d make in your kitchen with 100% edible ingredients, it passed my test for safety.
I’ve been using it now for 4 weeks, and I love how my skin looks. No breakouts along my jaw line since week 2!! Today I didn’t even wear makeup. My skin isn’t perfect, now that the breakouts have subsided, I need to handle the subtle acne scarring that’s been left behind. But I’ve already got the perfect homemade mask recipes for that! With BioClarity you still need to use a separate moisturizer after applying step 3, the restore gel. Also, be sure to exfoliate or do a natural face mask at least once a week to remove dead skin, and maximize your glow.
