I love teaching and learning with my daughter. Baby J and I spend a lot of time together playing, making, and chatting. I love teaching her new things in the kitchen especially! As I wrap up my holiday cocktail series, I wanted to make a family-friendly drink that we all can enjoy–Baby J included. This apple nutmeg mocktail is festive and foamy. It’s a new favorite for us!

I’ve been experimenting a lot lately with recipes for my new cookbook. One thing I wanted to include more of was refreshing drinks, so I created this holiday cocktail series while testing other recipes. This series has been so much fun, but this drink might be my favorite of all! It’s fruity, it’s spicy, and it is super foamy. That makes it so much fun to drink!

This apple nutmeg mocktail is a non-alcoholic version of a whisky sour. Traditional sours use egg white, so to make this drink vegan and kid-friendly, I took out the whisky and replaced the egg with bean water. Yup!

I’m not crazy–aquafaba is the liquid leftover from cooking chickpeas. The result is the perfect vegan egg substitute, and when you add it to a drink shaker and shake it up, it creates a beautiful and bubbly foam to float on your drink.

Of course you can always add a shot (or two) of whisky to the cocktail shaker to make an absolutely delicious adult drink! Enjoy this apple nutmeg mocktail with a cinnamon stick garnish around the tree with your favorite people.

This was good! A little different and fun!
I followed pretty closely, but I had some cinnamon syrup in the fridge, so I used that in place of the dash of cinnamon/maple syrup. I also measured the bitters with my heart (I didn’t want to pull the dropper top off).
A last note, if anyone should find themselves eyeing the coffee frother, just know that you will quite possibly end up with more foam than mocktail XD
