Last year my partner and I took a 3 week cross country road trip from NYC to LA, and along the way we discovered that the United States is a lot more vegan-friendly than we had previously realized. From Nashville to Phoenix, stylish vegan friendly hotels and accommodations abound. Below are the places I can’t wait to go back to.
COMFORT & CHARM: Park Lane Guest House | Austin, TX
When in Austin you must stay in one of the cozy solar-powered cottages at Park Lane Guest House. It’s not only one of my favorite vegan friendly hotels, it’s 100% meat-free. Even better, your stay comes with a stellar vegan or vegetarian breakfast prepared by the owner herself, Shakti. If you’re looking for an oasis in the heart of Austin, look no further.

LUXURY: Mountain Shadows Resort | Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ
Staying at Mountain Shadows Resort was one of the highlights of our time in Arizona. I loved our luxurious suite, the refreshing lap pool, the fabulous gym, and the amazing restaurant. The chef impressed us with amazing multi-course vegan breakfasts that included savory and sweet dishes (like the ratatouille & tofu pictured above), fresh juices, and amazing coffee. We didn’t want to leave the resort because everything was right there!

DO IT YOURSELF: SoBro Guest House | Nashville, TN
If you like to cook for yourself when traveling (which I do), then stay at the SoBro Guest House when you’re in Nashville. This city has great vegan food options—like Southern V and Sunflower Cafe—but it’s still nice to be able to comfortably prepare your own breakfast and other meals when you’re on the road. You can find amazing vegan friendly hotels throughout the United States, and the world. Don’t let the fear of difficulty traveling keep you from becoming vegan, and don’t let it hold you back if you’re already vegan. Make sure to reach out to the hotel before you book and let them know you don’t eat animals. Nowadays they’ll understand and be more than happy to accommodate & even go above and beyond for you.
